How to print from your iPad or iPhone using AirPrint

This tutorial shows you how to print documents, photos, email messages, web pages, maps, notes and more from your iPad or iPhone using the built-in printing feature called Air Print.

With AirPrint you can print documents and photos from AirPrint-compatible program without having to install any additional apps. Most Apple apps such as Photos, Notes, Safari, Mail, and iPhoto and many third-party apps support AirPrint.

What you need to print from your iPhone using AirPrint

To print from your iPad or IPhone using AirPrint, you need a wireless AirPrint-compatible printer. Most recent wireless printers support this feature.

If your printer is AirPrint compatible, the setup is very easy. Please note that you need to connect both your iOS device and you printer to the same WiFi network.

How to print a document using AirPrint

1. Open the document you want to print and, depending on the app you are using, tap the Action button (it is usually an icon with a forward arrow at the top or bottom of the screen) or the Reply button.

Tap Print.

On the Printer Options screen, tap Select Printer and your iOS device will search for any available AirPrint-compatible printers on your Wi-Fi network.

Select the printer's name when it appears. If you don’t see your printer, make sure that your printer supports AirPrint and your iOS device and your printer are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network and you are within range.

To use an AirPrint printer with your Wi-Fi network, make sure your printer is connected to the same network as your iOS device or Mac.

After the first setup, your printer would appear as the selected device.

Tap Printer Options to return to the Printer Options screen, select the number of copies using the + or – buttons in the Copies field and tap Print.
